The Tufts Career Center podcast, From Here, To There, continues to release a finance-focused episode each semester that features an alumnus/alumna who shares anecdotes and lessons learned as they navigate a variety of careers across financial services.
The latest episode of From Here, To There, features Sebastian Rivera, A17, Assistant Vice President for the Capital and Market Risk Division at Global Atlantic Financial Group. In the episode titled “Breaking into the Finance Industry as a First-Generation College Student,” Rivera explores his professional journey, the highlights and challenges of the finance industry, his experience transitioning between companies, and advice for other first-generation college students.
Rivera is interviewed by Luca Broder, A24 and the 2022-2023 President of Tufts Financial Group, and Joshua Ober, A24, former Chief Operating Officer of Tufts Financial Group and current Tufts Career Center Fellow focused on finance.

The Tufts Career Center began developing finance-focused episodes last year at the recommendation of the TFN Advisory Committee. “There is a lot of enthusiasm about participating in the podcast from students and alumni. Students deeply value connecting with other Jumbos and receiving advice about different career paths in finance,” shared Karen Dankers, Director of Tufts Finance Initiative.
